Award-winning inventor Saul Griffith is always looking for ways to make the world better. With multiple degrees in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering as well as a PhD from MIT in Programmable Assembly and Self Replicating Machines, he has found endless avenues for his creative energy and expertise, co-founding companies in optics OptiOpia, engineering and technology Squid Labs, clean power Potenco), DIY Instructables.com, and most recently, wind energy Makani Power. Saul has been awarded numerous awards for invention, including the National Inventors Hall of Fame, the Collegiate Inventor's Award, the Lemelson-MIT Student Prize, and in 2007, a MacArthur Fellowship. His patents and patents-pending span everything from textiles to optics, nanotechnology, and energy production. Saul also co-authors a comic book-style science and invention series called HowToons, inspiring curious children of all ages. He is a technical advisor and regular contributor to Make and Popular Mechanics magazines.
